Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about preparing, booking, and trekking safely across Nepal and the high Himalayas.

Have a specific question?

Our Kathmandu Sherpa team is available 24/7.

Need customized itineraries, training advice, or high-altitude equipment checklists? Speak directly with an experienced trek leader.

The two prime trekking seasons in Nepal are:

  • Autumn (September – November): Crystal-clear skies, post-monsoon crisp mountain air, and mild trekking temperatures.
  • Spring (March – May): Warmer temperatures, vibrant blooming rhododendron forests, and active wildlife along the trails.

Rain-shadow regions like Upper Mustang and Dolpo can also be trekked during monsoon months (June – August).

For introductory routes like Ghorepani Poon Hill or Langtang Valley, no prior alpine experience is needed—a general active lifestyle is sufficient. For high-pass routes (Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, Manaslu), we recommend 6–8 weeks of moderate cardiovascular conditioning (hiking, stair climbing, running). Our itineraries include built-in acclimatization rest days to ensure your body adjusts safely.
Safety is our top priority. Every Yeti Hikes leader is certified in Wilderness High-Altitude First Aid, carries pulse oximeters for daily oxygen saturation checks, and has a comprehensive medical kit. If acute altitude sickness occurs, our guides manage descent protocol immediately. For critical emergencies, we coordinate instant helicopter evacuation through our Kathmandu emergency operations center. Travel insurance covering high-altitude medical evacuation is required for all trekkers.
Yes, our packages are fully all-inclusive while on the trail. You'll stay in vetted, clean teahouse lodges with cozy common dining halls heated by traditional stoves. Packages include three nourishing meals daily (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) selected from lodge menus, featuring authentic Sherpa dal bhat, soups, pasta, porridge, and hot drinks. Luxury packages include premium boutique lodges (such as Yeti Mountain Home) with heated rooms and private en-suite bathrooms.
Yeti Hikes arranges all official permits and regulatory paperwork on your behalf before departure. Depending on your itinerary, this includes National Park entries (e.g. Sagarmatha, Annapurna, Langtang), TIMS cards (Trekkers' Information Management System), and local government entry passes. All permit fees are included in your trek package with no surprise costs.
